The Center has developed a tool that evaluates the costs associated with planning, designing, acquiring, constructing, operating, maintaining, renewing, and replacing stormwater infrastructure.
Lifecycle Analysis of Stormwater Infrastructure Costs
Across the Nation, many communities are addressing stormwater management needs and assessing requirements for implementing management plans. Some considerations during this process include costs associated with aging water infrastructure conveyance systems, the addition of green infrastructure controls, rate payer expectations and other important community considerations.
The GIS-interfaced Community-enabled Lifecycle Analysis of Stormwater Infrastructure Costs (CLASIC) tool is expected to increase confidence in comparing benefits and costs of stormwater infrastructure alternatives using tools based on cost, design, and performance data sets and a peer-reviewed model. The CLASIC tool utilizes a life cycle cost framework to support feasability and planning for stormwater infrastructure at a municipality or watershed scale.
Working with a team of experts from several institutions and organizations to develop a robust and effective tool, the OWSI team is responsible for the development and deployment of the tool on the eRAMS Platform.
